Where you buy a sugar glider is very important. Some breeders do not raise sugar gliders in healthy ways. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) gives licenses to good breeders. A licensed breeder follows USDA rules. The USDA inspects the breeders. Buying from a licensed breeder helps to make sure you get a healthy pet. In some states, it is only legal to buy sugar gliders from licensed breeders.

Handle young joeys for at least 30 minutes three or four times a day once their eyes have opened.
